As with all shop tools there are procedures that if followed will extend the life of the band both in their mountains and the cutting blade. The proper tension, the feed pressure, regular cleaning and lubrication are required to take full advantage of this tool.
There are certain precautions that should taken to protect the blades from premature wear. For example, when leaves are new, they are too sharp, and any action that will cause severe damage to the teeth. To avoid premature wear, manufacturers suggest a break in the action for new blades. This can be done by reducing the speed of the saw the initial period, often at half the normal speed. Reducing the amount of food in the beginning, for example for the first 50 square centimeters of material, also help bring out the extra sharpness of the blade and make it more durable.
Even if you do not know what normal supply pressure for the material must be, to be sure, start with a light feed and slowly increase the pressure of adequate food, even the curly chips (in metal) or size chip (wood) are formed. Note that there are certain alloys, such as those based on nickel are sawed with lower speeds and therefore need more break-in pressure.
Lubrication is a necessity for band saw blades metal cutting. Never use water as a lubricant or a cleaning agent, and which will cause oxidation and block the functioning of the blades. A suitable lubricant is a combination of high bond measure oil with Chain Saw Bar half as kerosene or diesel. Apply the mix on both sides of the sheet.
From the tension of the blade is necessary once the saw is complete and leaves put to rest. Because of the heat produced during cutting, the blade is extended slightly, and shrink when cooled. Therefore, if the sheet is left on the mountain with tension, the reduction will have a negative effect on the leaves, sometimes causing a crack in them. Furthermore, this unnecessary tension-shaped head of the Sierra and put pressure on the axles and bearings.
The esophagus is an important part of the band saw, and while sharpening the blade (usually this is done with the help of a stone) that you need to take care of the throat to allow the stone to move through the bottom of the gorge, along with the front and the back the teeth of the blades.
Always try to maintain a ratio of no more than 65-70% and 30-35% sawdust air into the space between the saw blade and sawn material. Please keep this level, it blocks the air that would otherwise push the dust, and the result is excess heat that will make the sawdust and ruin the life of the tibia of the band saw.
Last but not least, regular cleaning should be done to keep your band saw in good condition. The excessive deposition of waste materials reduce the life of the saw.
We also recommend that you choose a high quality leaf. Banda low quality of the saw blades are made of tool steel quickly lower the killing, as well as having a much higher risk of the blades last minute by a poor weld.
