I just got a craftsman 1 / 2 hp wood lathe dont know much about him?
I have the tools with it, but seem to be boring i tried use, but the piece of wood like you could even grated toools or is it just because his first one and can sharpen the tools, or must I buy new ones?
It could be the tools, but certainly they are all boring, at the same time. You may not have the toolrest set at the correct height. Should be adjusted so that the edge of the tool you are using is only slightly below the centerline of the timber when it is resting on the toolpost. This gives s smooth cutting. It could be the timber you are using. Do not use pine or other softwoods. (Except for practice, it would be good for the maple) use or other more fine-grained wood. You can see if your school or community college has classes in woodturning. If they do, you can register and learn the proper techniques of an expert instructor who can answer all your questions and start with good habits. You can probably go to a hardware store and make it look good sharpness of your tools. Lathe tools are designed to be sharpened hundreds of time, and every tool should last 40-50 years. So do not buy new, unless it's a guy who has to do something new. Congratulations on learning a skill that has real applications and creates useful things!.
