What tools do I start?
I'm going into the woodwork (mostly for home and small pieces of furniture of the building) and have been looking at some tools. Craftsman DeWalt and appear to be the most popular brands. Are they really the best? How do I go about choosing the right brand, and what kinds of tools should I start building my workshop? I have some hand tools-me-down so it can be the legacy of my father (small table saw jig saw, grinder, and portable different.) Most of them are brand names or I do not recognize, or are Black and Decker. And the jig saw does not really is so great to work. Thanks for your help!
if you want to buy only quality tools Stay way from these marks of a craftsman, skill, Ryobi, black and Decker, central machinery. if you do not buy decent tools in the big box stores (Home Depot, etc) or Sears. find a professional tool supply stores (they are around) the prices are comparable and the service is now much better than the brands mentioned stores.good DEWALT (but not the big box stores are different internally and cost same) Cable charger, delta, jet, gray, in general, Panasonic, Bosch, Makita, Fein, festoll, etc. The first tool is a circular saw and if you need more advanced base of the table saw. then a good puzzle (i Bosch as the best) and some hand sanding. what really matters is what your going to use for that start with what my advice is to buy as you need to find the latest them.your power hand tools are far superior to those inherited

A professional furniture manufacturer talks About Routers
As the son of a carpenter, I learned to respect and appreciate the tools at a very early age. I also learned that most tools will last a lifetime, if cared for properly. Many of the tools in my wood shop were spoken by my father. There lowangle brush that I use in virtually all projects, and a classic DeWalt radial arm saw that I probably will survive. My favorite acquisition, however, Stanley router is a 1-hp. My father bought it in 1959, some 20 years before Stanley sold its power-to-line tool from Bosch.
This router more than 10 years old when first used, and although more recent, more powerful routers in the store, instinctively reach when Lord Stanley I have to give way to a mill edge or a joint. Does not appear sophisticated electronics, and the collet can be rather stubborn at times, but I'm used to the way it feels in my hands and the throaty whine of its axis of thirty-something. True, the old Stanley performs no better than the newer routers, but it serves as a link with the past, but represents two generations of artisans and is a survivor of a time line tool so proud.
It was not until my hobby became a vocation for working with wood, however, who really appreciates a router for what it is: the machine shop tool more versatile. As a manufacturer custom cabinet design for a store in Miami, I relied on the router for everything from simple cutting to milling dadoes chins accurate dovetail joints. For the construction of plastic laminate cabinets and counters, routers are used to trim the seam and the laminate. I was able to replicate and manufacture period moldings Custom panels right at the Job Site with the help of a portable table shop-built router. To further improve the router, I have designed and built jigs and fixtures for specific tasks. These simple shop-made accessories not only enhance the capacity of the router, but also make the tool safer and more precise.
Now I'm glad to see that the routers are more popular now than ever before. Somehow, I'm not surprised one bit.
