Biofules staff Dilemma?
Any other question what will happen when these crops (maize, beans, etc.) become valuable resources people who rely on them for subsistence necessities can not afford them …? I know this is happening right now, I'm thinking on the scale until a few years, decades. So we're wasting our time with the plant-based fuels at this time? Should we be really focused instead in the tide / solar / wind as an energy source? Why cannot we just have full electric cars charged by wind or tidal power?

Crop biofuels is not sustainable or environmentally sound solution to our problems. Reducing consumption is a big part of the equation. Maize is being driven by economic reasons, not environmental reasons. As potential sources of biofuels are the grasses (which need no cultivation) or even burning garbage. The problem with corn is that it is a power hog (takes a lot of fuel and fertilizers), and requires the plowing under of ecosystems (forests, grasslands, etc.) already store a ton of carbon.
