Will my jigsaw on ceramic tile?
I am installing porcelain tile flooring and the need to use a saw to cut sawing. The sheet I (recommended for the type of hardware store) does not work (the edge looks a bit like sandpaper). The book I said to use a sheet of tungsten carbide. If a keyhole saw (the one that came with the saw) cuts metal, Will porcelain tile and make a decent clean cut? The edges are covered with quarter-round shoe molding so it is vitally important, but would be fine. PS: I have the puzzle … I just need the current sheet. They are the skinny … not the presses … those having the saw are about 4-5 "long each. … I have a coping / handsaw. If I have to resort to that (holy labor), will it work?
The last few times I cut tile, I just paid the kind of Lowe's to make the cuts. At $ 50 a cut, I saved a lot of money on tools and time! If you make a few marks on the bottom of the tile with a sharpee, you can get most of the cut made, Use pliers to finish it. Using a saw is the hard way to go, I've done it that way and ended up with pain than an hour spent on a tile ugly (but it was a beauty! It goes around a pipe and nobody can see it). If you go this route, take some earplugs; of the saw cuts is through tile like butter, but does a hell of a racket.
