Sat Nav – Cracking open the case?
I'd like to open my case Navman. Unfortunately, the battery seemed to be dead and I'm not willing to buy one again, so will try to change one – aesthetically I do not care if poor loks after the 'operation'. Any suggestions as to how to this? I thought about using a dremel – a very small wheel, high speed milling, any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.
I thought she responded – But seems to have gone? Weird. Anyway, I suggest removing all the screws on the back of the first unit. Verification of those hidden under the labels, or inside the battery compartment. Some or all of these screws can be tamper resistant, or type Torx, and needs a screwdriver special. Then heat for navigation system with a hair dryer. When the unit is very warm (not hot but you can not touch it), try to separate dente of the two halves of the case with your fingers or a blunt-ended, such as the handle of a spoon. I use the rounded end of a pair of tweezers. Heat the plastic makes it less fragile and less likely to snap or crack as a prize the two halves. As always, be careful not to hurt yourself, and remember the LCD screen into a Sat Nav is basically a thin piece of glass, and could be easily damaged. Good luck!
